Sitting on the porch beneath the umbrella Kennie sipped at a mug of hot chocolate slowly, waiting for Tyler and Twigg's return. There was something weighing heavily on her mind at that moment. It'd confused her so greatly in fact that she'd closed the shop early and skipped a class to come home and think about it.
Wyatt was back...of course it seemed he'd been back for quite some time and she'd never noticed him. Which bothered her, with how close they'd been and the like....she would've recognized him anywhere. It bothered he mildly, making her wonder what else she wasn't seeing right. As she sipped quicker at her hot chocolate the warm beverage stung her top lip. "Shit." She whispered, putting a finger to it. The breeze had left her fingers chilled, calming the ache on her lip. Where are they? She wondered, continuing to drink, it was taking all her effort not to just put on her running gear and dash down the beach, but if she did that she'd surely miss Twigg and Tyler, she wasn't sure what their plans were after they finished all the required things anyway.
With her thoughts whirring faster than she wanted them to Kennie sat, tapping her foot on the hardwood of the porch she'd grown up around. No matter what happened..Kennie was sure she could never leave the house. Staring out at the ocean her thoughts calmed but did not dissapate.

Even by Twigg's standards it had been a long day, and she wasn't in the mood for putting up with the constant tug on her hair by the pudgy arms of her son. It was taking all her strength not for her to explode at the one year, but it wasn't his fault that his Mom was so cranky was it? Pushing one of his arms away gently from her long blonde hair as it whipped slightly around them both, maybe she'd cut it? The idle thought passed as quickly as it came, she knew she never would, it was one of the few things she was proud of, expect Tyler and Kennie of course. Hitching him up she walked up the path that went to the front of their small house. The edge of the garden merged with sand as it faced the swelling ocean of the Mid Cape. A perfect location for the two.
What she didn't expect was the sight of Kennie sat on the porch, seemingly deep in thought with a mug between her fingers. Trying not to give the girl a questioning look she silently took a seat beside her, keeping a strong hold on the wriggling child in her arms as she rotated him onto her knees, the kid could run fast, she'd give him that. "What's up love?" Tilting her head slightly she looked at the familiar profile of her best friend, a face that was as recognisable to her as her own was. This meant she could tell when there was something amiss, and Kennie didn't look her usual happy self which meant, there was something she wasn't telling Twigg.

Hearing the shifting of the sand that signified someone was coming up the walk Kennie looked up, the sun glaring into her eyes for a moment before they focused on Twigg and their little boy. Smiling faintly at Twigg as she sat down Kennie let out a low sigh, trying to gather all the thoughts that she'd been allowing to swim through her head for the last few moments. Tyler was wriggling and bouncing as if he couldn't get rid of his energy fast enough. Scratching her head slightly she let her elbow rest on the glass of the table, her head finding a spot to hide there.
"Where do I even begin?" She asked, wondering aloud. Twigg had picked Tyler up around two, after her lunch break, long after Wyatt had left. The thought of his name left her catching her breath in the back of her throat, the breeze blowing her hair faintly across her mildly tan skin. "Remember that guy I was dating a summer back?" She asked. Of course Twigg had to remember though...he'd been...the only guy to really get inside of Kennie's head and the one to suddenly leave as well.

Keeping as tight a grip as she could, she twisted in her position on the steps so one leg was bent and resting on the wooden top of the steps, and the other as dangling down the steps below her. Dropping Tyler into the small gap that was created between her legs she watched him recognise freedom, until he saw he was caged by his mother's limbs and the wood and sit down with a bump, his carpeted behind making a strange noise that made Twigg roll her eye. Looking back at her best friend she kept her face blank, Kennie wasn't really one for sympathy, just like Twigg wasn't, they listened to each others problems, told them the truth, told them what was for the best and left it up to the other. They were more like guys in that sense.
When the other girl was ready she finally let her into the problem. It was hard to keep the surprise off her face though, it had been a long time since she'd heard anything about Kennie's mysterious holiday romancer, sure she'd heard alot at the time about how he was perfect and got her like no one else and how it was so easy and comfortable. "Yeah.." she ventured the word quite quietly, still flummoxed as to what would leave her best friends life. Even up til now Twigg didn't know the name of this guy, Kennie hadn't felt it necessary, and it wasn't so she hadn't asked, but surely the reappearance of him as a subject topic was that he had become an active part in Kennie's life again? And therefore Twigg's.

Staring at the little boy Kennie studied her friend as they had a short conversation. Most people would've found it difficult to glean anything from this as there were little words involved. But then again...the two of them had survived for the longest time on not making sense to anyone. Shaking her head slightly Kennie stood up, bringing her mug with her, and sat on the step above Twigg, beside her leg, and closing the cage that held Tyler captive. It was one of those things...it was just right.
"He's back...he came back today, into the shop before you grabbed Tyler." She said slowly, still trying to make sense of it and smiling all at once. The few kisses they'd shared had been utterly amazing and ... as unforgetable as the ones preceding them a year and a half before. "He...we kissed." Her brain was trying to wrap around the entire thing and explain it all to Twigg in a whole, though, keeping her gaze steady with her friends she was sure she understood. Neither of them were good with emotions, hence why Wyatt was such a big part of Kennie's life when he'd been in there and left suddenly.
Rubbing the top of Tyler's head he turned around and shot her a look say "Sugar or Poop, pick one." She just smirked at him, this didn't please the little tyke and resulted one more fwop onto the hardwood beneath him.

As Kennie moved to form the final barrier of her cage she couldn't resist the smile that tugged her lips, everything was so perfect with them, she wished it could never change, but that wasn't possible, they couldn't stay like this forever, a couple of spinsters looking after Tyler, they would have to find guys eventually, Tyler would grow up, everything would end. It was a horrible thought and one that was increasingly more crossing her mind of late, just to torment her probably.
At the sudden smile that appeared on her best friends face she vowed to keep her reservations secret, and her face mirrored the brunettes as she recalled the happenings of the past few hours. Now neither Twigg nor Kennie had been the time of people to get all girly and high pitched over guys, so the look on her face told Twigg that there was something about this boy, something worth keeping. It in turn made her bubble with happiness inside that this guy was making her best friend so happy. "Really? Go you," dropping a wink she idly played with the loose blonde curls on her sons head. "Are you going to see him again?" It was a pretty dumb but necessary question and she waited patiently as Kennie played with Tyler.
Finally hitching a teasing grin on her face she bowed her head at the girl. "And when do me and Sir Tyler get to meet him so we can check him out?"

The way they fit so perfectly around the on year old always struck Kennie as fun...bizarre and unique. If someone was there watching the only way they'd be able to decipher who his real mother was would be by their hair. Tyler grabbed hold of one of Kennie's fingers and tugged at it playfully, staring at it in question wondering why it would not detatch from her hand.
"It's...we're taking it slow again." She said, rubbing her temple with her other hand before resting her elbow on her knee and sticking her head in hand. "I'm not sure when I'm dragging him over...but Twigg....I just can't believe he's back." She said, another smile following the sentence as she thought about it. How was it possible...something she'd wished on a star for at night came true. "We had lunch today. He met Tyler." She said, the little boy turned in circles at the sound of his name with a wide grin filled with random teeth.
"What about you?" Kennie asked her friend, brushing some hair from her friend's face. It'd been a day from hell for the girl, Kennie could see that in the exhaustion that dominated her face.

There was almost a sense of relief whenever Kennie looked at the way Tyler was with her, relief and pride. Perhaps it was because Twigg always had the security of knowing that if anything did ever happen to her, then the boy would be raised and loved just as well as if she were alive by Kennie. It made the terror of everyday dangers that little bit less for her and she was eternally grateful for the way her best friend had put her life on hold almost for Twig and her son, not many people would have done that.
Raising an eyebrow she glanced won at her son was was now twirling in circles, reacting in an amusing way to the sound of his own name as Kennie told how he had the mister man. "Well, how about it little fella? Is he could enough for our Kennie?" As if he understood the boy gave a gurgled cackle and what looked like a laugh as he extended his hands for her, grabbing her legs with his pudgy fingers. "Well then, the jury's out, I'll give him a while to court you before I need to meet him," giving the girl a warm smile she curled one of her fingers into the little boys golden hair.
At the question of her day, she paused for a moment. "Today's been a tough one, I'll give it that," a sigh emitted from her lips after this, as if trying to convey all the awkward customers and the pain the rush had created in the balls of her feet all at once.

Tyler was always the glue that made things happen. Even if he didn't quite understand what was going on if there was any doubt in a situation the girls looked to him and asked. As if he knew exactly what the answer should be, generally everything they'd decided with his answers had turned out fairly well for all of them. "I'm glad I got a good ruling for this." Kennie smirked and picked Tyler up, nuzzling her nose in his pudgy stomach before blowing a raspberry on it.
It was always a big deal when Kennie dated simply because she avoided it at all costs. She was friends with most of the guys on the Cape and could date if the urge presented itself...but there was something she rarely trusted about any of it. Mostly her father an mother's relationship. In all honesty Twigg, Wyatt, and Frank were the only people who really knew that about her though.
"What should we make for dinner?" She asked Tyler, considering that Twigg hadn't had school today making for a longer day at the Ritz. "I'll cook, you soak your feet." Kennie smiled at her friend in earnest. It was the most amazing friendship she had.
Turning her head towards the breeze as Tyler did she caught sight of the sunset falling behind the water, allowing colors to reflect...the beauties of her hometown were always something.

"Lets hope I can find someone who he approves of so earnestly," the words were said as a joke, but they conjured up memories of Wyatt and the previous night when they had laid together on the sand, physically exhausted and just holding each other. It had seemed so perfect to her and so right, maybe if she didn't have Tyler they could be happy, but she did, so there was no rushing into anything at the moment, she'd have to wait and see, he didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave any time soon anyway. The thought put a smile on her face and she dropped a kiss on the cheek of Kennie, more than willing to accept the girls generous offer. Twigg would pay her back within the week, it was why neither of them had a problem with borrowing something or doing something for the other ,they would always be repaid without asking because that was how their relationship worked.
"That sounds like heaven, just make something that doesn't take alot to eat... so no taco's" the blonde girl pulled a half disgusted face at the thought of having to struggle with keeping everything inside the shell and then try and get it into her mouth, she didn't have good hand eye co-ordination on a good day, never mind on one where she was about to die of exhaustion. She preferred to collapse in her bed, not her food.

Laughing at the expression on Twigg's face she held Tyler in her arms, helping her friend stand. "I was thinking something simple...top raman or macaroni n' cheese." Kennie said, looking to Tyler who was busy deciding whether or not suck on her hair that he'd clenched in his pudgy hand. All she was thankful for at the moment was that his hands weren't sticky as they usually were.
"Just go lay on the couch or something, pick a good movie, and it'll be done in no time." Generally nights were down time after Tyler was in bed. Tonight, it seemed, would be a family night however, Tyler wasn't about to go to bed anytime soon. He could fall asleep on one of them. Walking into the spacious kitchen she sighed, putting Ty in his little high chair where he could 'help her' make a meal of some proportion before she began rummaging through the cupboards and fridge. "Shopping week!" She yelled to Kennie.

Mustering enough strength to pull her legs up, she rose from the strangely comfortable perch at the top of the wooden steps and stretched, a very audible groan escaping her lips as she reached for the stars. Shaking her head she gave a small yawn, one hand now lost in the tumult of extensions and colour. "Macaroni and Cheese sounds heavenly," she grinned, nice and easy to eat for all three of them, and just filling enough. Plus it wouldn't take too long to make meaning she wouldn't be ages out of bed.
Allowing her son to be carried away she made her way across the walk, her feet making a thudding sound on the wood. When they had first moved in here, she had been terrified that the wood would give way and one of them would go plummeting down the ten feet or so to the ground below, hardly life threatening, but the fall was enough to hurt one of them, especially Tyler, but then again he weighed little more than 2 bags of sugar at the moment so the threat wasn't all that real. Following Kennie into the house she gave a nod and dropped onto the couch that occupied the far end of there surprisingly spacious kitchen diner. She of course could have gone and sat in the lounge, but here she could see them both and still talk. "What are you in the mood for? Comedy, romance, horror?" Wiggling her eyebrows at all the options she flipped onto her side and nodded at the shopping hint. "Yeah we'll go tomorrow."

Handing Tyler a sippy cup filled with apple juice Kennie began rummaging for a pot, a box of macaroni and cheese and the random ingrediants she needed for the dinner that would satiate them until breakfast the next day. Though Kennie was usually up at two a.m. having bowl of cereal. It was one of her quirks that she'd started when she had an impulse to check on Frankie at all hours of the night though they were teenagesr and he was capable of taking care of himself for the most part.
Tyler gurgled every few seconds when he found the desire to set down his sippy cup and smack the plastic tray, laughing happily to himself. "I'm up for something horrific." She decided, knowing full well that meant Tyler would pass out. Romantic made him cry, Comedy brilliantly made him laugh, and Horror made him sleep. Kennie had to hand it to her friend, the boy was a character.
"Kay, we'll go tomorrow morning, I have no appointments at the shop until two, classes aren't til six." She said, spouting off her schedule, wondering partly if Wyatt would be part of her day again.

Twigg was perfectly fine with giving Kennie all the responsibility of Tyler while she simply lay there on the sofa, eyes half closed and body relaxed against the soft embroidered cushions. All the furniture in their house was odd and miss matched, a culmination of the two girls varied taste, though somehow it created and comfortable atmosphere that both girls loves, they didn't need expensive stuff to be happy. Turning onto her side she watched Tyler take his drink carefully before managing to spill half the contents all over him when he took his first mouthful, the cups really weren't as full proof as she had first thought, then again Tyler always managed to get around everything safety proofed.
"Horrific it is," she nodded at the movie choice, it would mean they got some peace at least. Most people would think it was irresponsible to show things like that to their 1 year old, but the little boy loved it, they didn't scare him in the slightest, though he was easily bored and after around half an hour he was out like a light. Nodding again slightly, she gave a small smile. "Shopping, great," that was at least one thing the two weren't the best at, they had a tendency to buy unnecessary things just because they were new or interesting, got them home and seriously regretted their decision.

From where she stood, pouring noodles into the boiiling water, Kennie watched Tyler manage to get more of his drink on him rather than in him. It was always entertaining to see how the boy handled his liquids and food. Turning to look at the noodle she took a fork and began prodding them in there, stirring every few seconds so they didn't harden to the bottom. She and Twigg would eat anything, the one year old, who had most run of the house, however would not take so kindly to food being that way.
"I forgot to mention something to you!" Kennie yelled out to Twigg, measuring milk, cutting butter from a cube, and making sure it was all beside the stove, ready for when it was needed.
The thought of shopping with Twigg again, after what seemed a long hiatus, Kennie couldn't think of a better stress release. They'd have to make a list first so they could get the necessities out of the way before the two ended up buying the other things that were either shiny and interesting..or things that simply caught their attention, making them go 'oooh I want.' Smirking at the meal she was preparing Kennie wondered how she'd managed to become so lucky...and relatively normal after all she and Frank had been through.
