The water was unusually bitter for such a pleasant sunny day, and as she stood there, knee deep in the swell of the ocean, she had to bite her tongue to keep from reacting more violently to the biting cold that came from each wave that crashed against her bare skin. It was barely 9 and the early morning walk on the beach, through the water was the most effective wake-up call she could think of. Whipping hair around her she looked over her right shoulder to see the silhouette of her house against he dunes. Kennie and Tyler had left not ten minutes ago, he was to spend the day in the shop with her to give Twigg time to rest, she'd had a late night last night, what with working til gone 11 and then her visit to Greasers. The memory of it brought up the image of Trey into her head. Now he was a pleasant distraction, all the time she had been in the dingy bar she hadn't thought of Wyatt or her dilemma once, she had been the old, teasing, flirting Twigg that everyone loved.
Sighing she turned her head forward again and squinted her eyes out to see, the early morning light reflected harshly off the waves, hitting her square in the eyes and blinding her momentarily, but she was used to it, every morning she subjected herself to the same treatment before she went to work. Though today she had no work, she had been supposed to go meet Wyatt but she'd had to cancel because tonight was the night she was finally going to meet Kennie's guy and she had to make sure the house was spick and span and cook a edible meal for the four of them. Tyler would be there of course, Twigg's greatest critic.
Vision clearing she watched the steady progress of a yacht as it glided along by the next cove, the owner no doubt getting in some early morning fun before he had to head out to his boring job.
