She felt someone moving around next to her, but her unseeing gaze just stared at the fire infront of her. She took a swig of the beer before she turned her head at the sound of Kennie's voice. She shook her head answering her questiong before her head turned back towards the fire.
"I haven't been to a real party like this since I was... just barely sixteen. Before I was blind." She said gently as her finger ran up and down the neck of the bottle rubbing off the condensation. "People think of blind people as a liability at such events." She said gently lsitening to the popping noise of the fire and enjoying the heat that kept her warm. She could see the reasoning behind that mind set. In all honesty she was a liability at a party. She was the perfect target for things like a date rape.
She felt movement on her otherside and wasn't surprised by the voice in her other ear. She recognized it immediately as William. She turned her head in his direction for a moment smiling gently before she turned her head back to the fire and took another swig of the beer. "Not too new, but I haven't been around long. I tend to keep to myself." Her head then turned to Kennie smiling happily. "At least until Kennie here came along." She said gently smiling happily as she turned her head back to the warmth of the fire.

The arrival of so many people had been a welcome distraction for Twigg, the convenient timing had meant she didn't have to answer the questions posed to her by her best friend. Which was for the best, she could never like proficiently to Kennie. Swiveling her head at the sound of voice she fixed an almost genuine, but certainly friendly smile on her bare lips, it almost didn't look like her without her deep red lipstick. Keeping her eyes averted from Kennie she greeted the new people with a nod and recognising Will she finally spoke. "Hey Will, fancy seeing you here," the two hadn't seen each other since the beach, and this was the first time without Twigg's son present.
The other two people who had arrived were unknown to her but she gave them both smiles to continue the procrastination of looking at her best friend until the strange look in her eyes had disappeared. The darker one she thought she had seen around school and no doubt they were both students at White Hill, but maybe other departments? Not bothering to dwell on it she gave another smile, flicked long plaits and introduced herself "Hey I'm Twigg," she knew she had stayed out of the conversation for too long in her musings but she was hardly one to stand on ceremony, even in the dulled down state she was now in.
Keeping quiet for a while she listened to the banter back and forth, shock registering in her mind as she heard that the girl she had thought she had recognised was blind, Twigg hadn't even known they had any disabled students at White Hill.

As Will and Lynn began to speak to each other, though her name was mentioned, she smiled kindly at Will at put her hand on Lynn's arm. "I have to go find Twigg for a bit." She said, her smile in her voice. After all, Twigg and Kennie were like two peas in a pod, rarely separated when it came to events like this, it was almost a system. Plus, Kennie hadn't forgotten the look in her best friend's eyes, it was disconcerting.
Pushing through the crowd she found Twigg and smiled. "Hey....now tell me what's wrong." The smile fell slightly as Kennie reached for Twigg's hand, her eyes imploring Twigg to not bother attempting a lie. It was always things like this that made Kennie remember how they'd become friends...though anyone that knew them thought they were born this way.

Twigg knew Kennie was coming even before the girl stood up, it was just one of those things between them, she could recognise every little body movement ther girl knew and could interpret it faultlessly. This was the reason why she tried not to make any sudden movements, any tell tale signs that there was anything wrong or she was nervous about the coming conversation. Looking up as her best friend approached she gave her a rather toothy grin.
The question that came was inevitable and she let the false smile slip, there as no point in it. Reaching up she squeezed the hand that was offered out to her in a reassuring way. "I'm ok, just feeling..." how was she feeling? She didn't know, this had never happened before, she'd never had a problem with her screw 'em and leave 'em way of life, after all it was a necessity so as not to screw up the order of things in her bigger picture. Never had she got attached. Shaking her head she finally broke into a genuine grin, "Would you believe me if I said it was a guy?" Kennie was more than familiar with Twigg's attitude to guys and would no doubt find it as strange as she did that feelings were starting to develop.

Raising a brow at her friend's answer Kennie stood for a moment. Unsure of how she was supposed to react to that one. Twigg was more of the sex and no commitment thing, most people around the Cape attempted that theology where as Kennie just...didn't indulge in any of it...since Wyatt that is. Now he was back and her heart and mind were all a flutter with the strange trappings that came with the beginnings and restarting of a relationship. Looking Twigg in the eye she gave her a small smile, putting her hand on her friend's face, she smiled lightly.
"How did this happen?" She asked, wondering who on earth the guy could be that was able to capture the Pink and Bulletproof queen of the Cape. It was definitly a new thing to her. People knew Kennie and Twigg as the women who could handle their own. And what about Frank? That thought made Kennie's heart sink, it was she who'd gotten her brother to go through with asking her out..what would he do now.
Attempting to hide the worry she held for her brother Kennie pulled Twigg into a hug. "So when do I get to meet this one?" She asked, smiling into her best friend's shoulder. It was rare to find two people such as Twigg and Kennie would could match and notice the other's movements so easily.

She turned her head to Kennie when she felt her touch Lynn's arm, and she frowned for a moment. She almost wanted to beg her not to leave her alone with Will, but she refraned from it. It wasn't that she didn't like being around him. She just... wasn't very confident about herself when it came to guys. She just nodded and listened to her movements for a moment before she let out a soft sigh.
She turned back to face the fire pulling on her denim coat and then pulled out her collapsed in cane and ran her thumb along some of the notes on the waving and swirling staff that was carved into the handle. "So..." She said gently licking her lips. "Thanks for leading me over earlier. I was actually about to turn around and leave if you hadn't have grabbed my hand." She admited gently before taking a big gulp of the beer.

The question was pure Kennie, and though she hadn't missed the raised eyebrow that was her friends reaction, she couldn't help but laugh at the words. As if Twigg developing feelings were the worst and most shocking thing in the entire world, then again, it was pretty bad, what if she screwed it up and messed both hers and Tyler's life up because of it? She couldn't even bare the thought, it was one of the reasons she hadn't talked to Wyatt about this, find out if the feelings were mutual and there was any hope for them.
Giving a slight shrug, the now almost helpless smile still fixed on her lips, that look said all it needed to; Twigg had no idea, she wasn't even sure when it had started otherwise maybe she would have been able to catch it and stop it before it got this car. "What about my reputation?" She joked, her eyes flashing with vague amusement as she met Kennie's eyes. Even through the problems that were in her own mind she saw something in those dark pools that she hadn't expected, worry? Disappointment? It made her frown, was Kennie really that bothered about it? "What's wrong Kennie?" The wrinkles in her brow deepened as she stared at her friend, determined not to let her change the subject.
Though it didn't really work as she felt herself pulled into a hug that she wasn't expecting or ready for, throwing her arms around the familiar form she caught her balance and let out another laugh, recognising the same question she'd asked her best friend a few nights ago. "When I get to meet yours."

Motioning for Twigg to follow her to the cool boxes Kennie set her empty bottle on the recycle table and reached for a new bottle, popping the top and taking a swallow. Ignoring the question of whether or not she was ok Kennie turned back to Twigg and smiled. "Dear dear, sound like a date is being set in motion." Kennie smirked, raising a brow as she took another drink. After all, they'd promised themselves that they were going to get smashed. Handing Twigg one she clinked the bottles together.
"I'm sure things will be ok." Kennie said, having no idea who the man was that managed to catch Twigg's heart. It was a surprise to say the least. Somehow a welcome one. What it meant however...was that it wasn't Frank like Kennie had assumed and it was someone that would end up being with Twigg...meaning their household was going to go...crazy.
Taking another swig she nudged Twigg. "Find any candidates for the evening or has this one really got you?" Kennie asked, teasing her best friend. After all, what was a night of getting sloshed without teasing and laughing.

Only a few steps were covered towards the box before she stopped in her tracks, put her hands on her out thrust hips and frowned, her lips pursed in an expression that Kennie knew would mean she wasn't done. "Answer my question please love," the words were kinder than the expression, but Twigg had told her what was bothering her, she owed her the same favor. Tough love, but it was only fair. Freeing one hand she reached out and took the bottle offered to her, chinking it docilely before she took a swig from the top. Easily distracted as she was she began pondering the thought of a double date, how amazing would it be if they could all become one big happy family. Too fairy tale for Twigg to believe but it definitely was a nice idea.
"Yeah, I'll be fine once he becomes a jerk," she didn't expect Wyatt too, but it would have been easier wouldn't it, and she didn't mind joking about things like this with Kennie, they both knew that was how most of their relationships went anyway. Taking another mouthful she surveyed the gathered people over the top of her bottle, considering Kennie's question. There was always Will, he was cute, she had to admit, but she probably wasn't his type or their would be some similar excuse. "Nah, not really, how about you?"

Surveying the scene as Twigg did so Kennie wondered how to approach the subject of her brother. It wasn't her nature to butt into people's business generally...but this was different...and mildly important, at least she thought so. Taking another mouthful of alcohol she pinched her lips at the taste for a few moments. "What about Frankie...Twig?" She asked finally, in a voice that only friend could hear or understand. It was hard to be torn between the two people that you loved most.
"If this one has you hooked like this...how are you sure he'll be a jerk?" Kennie smirked, finishing off her second drink. Once the girl was on a roll there was little stopping her. After all, the boys of the Cape were the ones who taught her all she knew for the most part. "As for candidates...not a one." Kennie shrugged though, thinking of Wyatt kept her plenty occupied, though she was free to be with who she wanted...there seemed to be little desire in her to do so.

Waiting patiently, hands no longer on her hips, she took a seat on another log, next to the fire before reaching out and popping an unroasted marshmallow in her mouth, she always had been too lazy for waiting for the damn things to cook, that had been Kennie's speciality and she had never seemed to mind helping her best friend out a few times before when her marshmallow decided to turn black or fall off into the flames in a suicidal bid for freedom. Looking up at the question she frowned. All thoughts of Frank had been pushed from her mind since their kiss a few days earlier, which was strange because usually she'd dwell on such a thing. An uncontrollable blush spread up her features at the mention of her best friends Brother. "I can't wait around forever Kennie..." there was no point continuing, Kennie knew exactly how twig felt about her brother, even though it was hard for her.
Looking back down she shrugged. "Aren't they all?" Wyatt was indeed different, but so far they were really about sex, just like the others, so what was there to say he didn't just see her as a quick lay whenever he wanted one? The only problem was, Twigg didn't believe that. Raising the bottle to her lips she drank the dregs, pulling a disgusted face as the tart strength hit her. dropping the bottle into the box acting as a bin she rose to her feet once more and took up another one, popping it open easily with her teeth, a horrible talent, but a useful one non the less.

Finishing off her third drink Kennie opened a fourth, this one she chose to nurse rather than chug down as if it were going out of style. Twigg's words didn't surprise her about Frankie, he was a bit of a chicken, there was no doubt about it. No matter how hard she tried to reassure him of Twigg's mutual feelings...something stopped him. Being his sister she was sure part of it stemmed from his first boyfriend.
Blinking a few times she stared into the fire, wondering how the logs would react to being burned if they were....alive like humans were. "I guess they can be...." Kennie said quietly, trailing off into her own thoughts of Wyatt and what he was doing rather than joining the campus campout. It was strange to think that he was back. They'd been nearly inseparable that summer.
Shaking her head Kennie took another small sip of her drink, wondering how Twigg was going to take to Wyatt. Looking around her, a small smile crossed her face. The academy had been doomed to failure when she was a teenager..now it was thriving.

Jamie had been sitting in his flat, flipping through channels all night when he finally decided that he didn't want to stay at home again. He wanted to go out and have fun like he used to do. Unfortunatly he still didn't know anyone here so that was kind of hard. He remember seeing a sign for an open campfire party and it seemed like the perfect oppurtunity so, standing he grabbed his black zipup, fishnet sleeved, hoodie and headed out the door.
When he got there, there were already some people around the fire. He recognized a few from the hallways but had never really talked to any of them. Blowing his hair out of his face he walked over to the fire pit and looked around at the people there. Trying to remember them for later, so he could put the memories down onto paper when he got home. Maybe he'd actually make some friends tonight. [/color]

With a keg rolled out from his friend's truck Trey approached the campout. He attended this thing, always having a little bit of everything for those who didn't. Whoever had provided the first round of alcohol Trey needed to thank, this year he was actually late. Part of him had been preparing, hoping to see Twigg there, the other half considering skipping. But with all the merchandise he had going for this party...he couldn't very well do that.
Looking around for a moment he popped open a beer and chugged it, tossing it into a nearby can. One of his band buddies, Ricky, was already setting up their tent about ten feet from the fire. It seemed that their tent was a subject of interest. Smirking he popped open another beer and began drinking that, after all, he came prepared to these things...with everything.
Someone else had finally turned on the music to begin the real party. Everyone was drinking, food was vanishing from the plates on the table as quickly as it appeared, he was sure this year would be good...yet his insides continued to turn as his eyes scanned the crowed for the Blue Haired Beauty who'd made him look three times...stare....and then wonder where she'd run off too. Twigg.

This was no good. They'd come here to have a good time, to party, to get drunk, even to take someone back to their tent... well preferably go with someone to their tent of maybe even the sand. They weren't supposed to be wallowing. Fixing a strangely genuine smile on her face she slapped her leg loudly listening to the strange noise her hand made as it connected with skin tight denim. "Come on, lets get this thing started," throwing her friend a wink she grabbed the girls face and gave her a big kiss, like those they were so often giving Tyler, to motivate her, and grabbed another drink, popping it open and taking a swig as she turned in a circle, all doubt and worry completely gone from her eyes.
The old Twigg was back. For now.
Looking to the new arrivals she gave them a nod before bending to scoop up a bag of marshmallows that lay discarded by the firelight, giving Kennie a pleading look she tossed them to her, hoping she would do her the honors of toasting them for her helpless self. Hearing more voices she looked out through the trees, there was a group of guys setting up a few more tents on the edges of the fire. Kennie and Twigg didn't have one up, if they needed one they would do it, but usually they got invite to someone else's or slept under the stars. It was beautiful night after all.
