Walking into the shop hurridly Kennie barely took time to flip the open sign as she set Tyler in the small playpen she always had set up for him. Her first customer was set to be there in only a few minutes to pick up his clutch plate and Kennie had yet to get the entire thing unpacked for her and re-packed for him.
Tyler gurgled to himself, nawing at Kennie's keys happily. Laughing in spite of herself she pushed some of her hair from her face, Kennie watched him for a moment, forgetting all her adult worries for just a few moments by listening and watching Twigg's little angel. Taking the rubber band around her middle finger Kennie twirled her long, brown tendrils into a messy bun and walked to the counter, shedding her coat along with the way.
With Tyler set up, her belongings at her 'desk' Kennie set to work on setting up the payment sheets for the part as well as placing the part with all it's instructional glories into a packaging proper for the customer. All the while the one year old that held the hearts of two women bounced around in his own make believe world.
The door dinged and Kennie looked up from her own personal enginge that she'd been tinkering with during the moments before her customer's arrival. With a small oil smear across her right cheek, plenty of it covering her slender fingers. The rest of her looked as Kennie usually did. Clad in tight jeans with a figure fitting black tank top and her hair up, no one could've found someone who was more satisfied with their job. Except maybe Twigg. "Hey," Kennie said with her winning smile as she walked towards the counter and picking up her hand cleaning rag.
Wiggling in his playpen still Kennie picked up a banana from the minifridge by her desk and unpealed it before handing it to the small boy. Then without further ado she looked to her customer, the smudge curving upward with her smile.

Mechanics had never really been Wyatt's strong suit. He liked cars well enough, what guy didn't? But as far as making them go, fixing them, he was generally clueless. He judged cars on their appearance and how it felt behind the wheel...not completely unlike his approach to girls, though he had a much deeper insight as to what made a girl tick. In any case the fact was nothing was wrong with his car, though he was considering trading it in for hybrid. He was very environmentally involved, and to be perfectly honest he didn't need a Lamburgini or a Ferrari to attract female attention. So, why was he at the mechanics if there was nothing wrong with his car?
To put it simply the mechanic was hot. Not to mention there was the fact that he had dated her over the last summer, most of it anyway. As far as summer romances went it was great, and surprisingly long term for the young Mr. Astley. The romance ended when Wyatt's summer stint in the cape did. Nothing went wrong, in fact things were going surprisingly well, but Wyatt didn't trust himself to stay faithful even just for a month. They both agreed a break-up was best, but considering how well things ended now that Wyatt had returned to the Cape he wasn't quite sure where he and Kennie stood.
Wyatt took a deep breath in anticipation of what awaited on the other side of the door. He entered casually, watching as Kennie pulled herself away from her work. He doubted any other girl in the world could make an oil stained cheek look as sexy as Kennie "Hey yourself," Wyatt smiled glad to see he had gotten a warm reception, though he wasn't sure Kennie got a a decent enough look at him to know who he was. "Sorry, to interrupt your work but I was just walking by and I thought I'd stop in to say hi," Wyatt explained making his way over to the desk. It was a stupid thing to say 'I was in the neighborhood' and Wyatt had practiced a million other excuses, things he could claim needed looking at in his car yet that was what came out. For some reason he wanted Kennie to know straight out he had come to see her, but didn't quite want to admit he came intentionally, so I was in the neighborhood seemed like a good excuse. Wyatt was really off today, he decided the early hour was the reason. Hopefully the ginseng from his morning green tea would kick in soon.
((OOC: I wasn't sure exactly which way we were going with the plot Also I'll leave it up to whether they've talked before this or if this is the first time they actually speak since summer. I figure they would have at least said hi to each other in passing but not so much in the way of actual conversation))

The man who walked through the door was not Kennie's arrogant customer. In fact it was someone far from that...someone she'd been told was back on the Cape but...she hadn't quite believed that was true. It took all her will power for her to control her jaw, willing it not to drop as he spoke to her. It was like looking at ghost from her past. Pushing a small strand of stray, sweaty hair from her face Kennie took Wyatt in...staring at him as if she never would again. He was back? Their romantic rendezvous had been so unexpected for Kennie...yet it'd been up there on most amazing things that'd happened to her. His leaving for home had torn her up more than anyone really knew.
"I..wow...hi..." She managed to say slowly, smiling slowly this time, her eyes sparkling slightly. It wasn't that she knew what to expect from Wyatt after all these years but that was the thing about Wyatt...he could've had any girl and he'd chosen her that year...and now he was here again. Feeling that familiar flip in her stomach Kennie scratched the back of her head slightly. "What can I help you with?" She asked, her voice kind with the hint of laughter behind it. Because Twigg would find this occasion mildly hilarious.
"You're not interrupting anything." She said honestly. It was definitely a slow day in way of cars and customers, she'd just been tinkering with her's and Twigg's beater vehicle. God how many years had it been? Shaking her head slightly Kennie reached into the fridge near her and grabbed a bottle of water, waving a gurgling Tyler, who had packed away his banana. Taking a sip of the water Kennie seemed rejuvenated already. Calmed almost. "I'm glad you stopped by." Her smile widened ever so slightly.

((OOC: So how long has it been since they dated I thought it had just been the previous summer))
"Yea...me too," Wyatt said a little awkwardly, not because he didn't mean it, but because he was no realizing that he hadn't really thought about what he was going to say and was left sort of blank. Should he start out with what was going on with them or should he use small talk first? Small talk would probably be best, just keep things casual see how they went. Besides he wasn't sure he was ready to hear what Kennie had to say on the issue...let alone what he himself would have to say.
"Is that your son?" Wyatt asked deciding the fact that they weren't alone in the shop would be a good place to start. He was a little nervous and not quite sure he wanted to hear the answer. It seemed unreal that Kennie would have a child and he not know about it. Had he really been gone that long? Who was the father? Was he still in the picture, what happened. Was she seeing someone new now? Someone who wouldn't just take off after a great two months of dating?
But maybe the baby wasn't her's maybe it was her little sister...no that wasn't possible. Was she just babysitting for a friend? But if that was the case why bring him to work? And where was the mother? It made more sense that the baby be Kennie's, but how could that be since Kennie having a baby made no sense at all? He was a cute kid though and certainly seemed to be enjoying himself in the playpen.

{{OOC:Well, it can be the previous summer if you want. But maybe if it's been at least a year or so than it's more plausible for her to have a one year old and such right? Plus the wounds would be scabbed but not healed.}}
The last real life image Kennie had of Wyatt in her head was of him walking away from her, towards his car so that he could make it his parents in time for their trip home. Though she'd remained strong while they were together that last day, after agreeing it was over once he left and knowing it was for the best, Kennie remained on the beach for hours after, willing herself not to cry. But after many attempts to not bawl...she had relented and the tears ran down her cheeks. Something that the girl rarely indulged in.
Staring at Wyatt in front of her then was like watching a ghost come out of a gravesite. Unexpected. But it was also something that made her smile like she couldn't believe. "Tyler?" She asked, chuckling slightly as she rubbed the one year old's blonde head. "No, no he's not mine, he's my roommates." She said, still smiling at him. It was strange to think he'd sought her out. Though in the small town...that wasn't difficult.
He looked the same to Kennie...but something was also amiss about him. As if he'd come to say or do something but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Reaching up she pulled her hair out of it's messy bun, running her fingers through her soft hair, detangling it easily. "I liked your show." She said simply, knowing he'd done one. Though she'd watched it a handful of times it soon became a bit too much for her. Sometimes Kennie wondered if it hurt him to leave as much as it hurt her. "Did you have fun doing it?" She asked him, it'd been his dream...and now he was in college for it she was sure.

((Hmm, okay that can make more sense. So they met and dated two summers ago? Wyatt had intended on coming back to the cape after just that one month, got offered a spot on show flew to LA shot the pilot but it never made it onto TV decided to stay in LA did a few commercials maybe Law and Order episode then finally gets the guest spot on the TV show does that it's over, he can't seem to find much work after that so now has come to the Cape for school heard Kennie was still their working, after months of deliberation finally decided to come see her...or I guess we could just say he shot the pilot the show got picked up for a season they started shooting season 2 but the show got canceled. Sound good?))
It hadn't been easy, leaving Kennie. For once he was actually making a relationship work. There was no cheating, suspicion of cheating, or even a desire to cheat. Wyatt sometimes wondered what that meant. Was it simply because he knew the relationship would have to end with or without his assistance, or could he really have kept things going Kennie? He certainly cared about her, of course he cared about all his girlfriends, but Kennie was special. She never left his mind, clearly or else he wouldn't be hear now. But he'd thought about her quite a bit when he was away. And now he was back and she was no longer just in his mind, but standing right in front of him...with a baby.
It may seem stupid but Wyatt was almost dissappointed to here that the baby wasn't Kennie's. He'd thought maybe if it had been hers...if it maybe had also been his, maybe that would be enough to make sure he would stay around and not leave again. Of course if it had been their baby Wyatt would have probably gone ballistic over the fact that she never told him...not that she really could have if she didn't figure it out until after he left. "Oh, well, he's a cute kid," Wyatt smiled. "Hiya Tyler," he said raising the pitch of his voice and smiling brightly as he gave the baby a little wave.
"Thanks," Wyatt said taking the compliment on behalf of his fellow cast mates and everyone else involved in making the show good. "Yea, it was a lot of fun," he said genuine in his response. It had really been a great experience and he got to work with some really talented individuals. "Wasn't really getting much other work once it was over though so I decided to come back here for school," he explained, though she may have probably already figured that out.

{{OOC:Sounds excellent, I'm looking forward to this }}Rubbing her hair a little bit more she tilted her head to the side. Kennie was the type of person who studied other's as they spoke. She could never understood why...but it was always something that she'd done. What she realized then, about herself, as she watched his lips move and his familiar voice filling her head, was that most of the song she'd written for her first album...were all him. That shocked her almost. Though she'd switched things up so it wasn't blatantly obvious, she wondered if he'd think it was crazy. "Yeah, he's sort of our little pimp." Kennie joked, smiling at the way Wyatt treated Tyler she took the banana away from the boy as he began shoving it through the small holes of the playpen netting. "Sounds like it was a great experience. I'm proud of you." She said without looking at him. Taking a rag from a nearby cardboard box she one-handedly began whiping the banana up. "I'm going to school here too." She said, though it was blatantly obvious to most people. "What do you think of it so far?" She asked him. More importantly the question burning her mind was 'why are you finally coming back?' Regardless of the fact that Kennie was an honest person, she wasn't a stupid one. It killed her partly to not ask him that question..but she wanted to know him again first. Wanted to know what he wanted to say before she jumped guns bigger than either of them could handle.

"Is he now?" Wyatt asked grinning. "Well little guy you really lucked out," he added to Tyler. Though he wasn't sure exactly who the mother was, and didn't know much at all about Kennie's roommate, just having Kennie there to help raise him made Tyler one lucky baby. "So, where's Tyler's father?" Wyatt asked the question pecking at the back of his mind. He wasn't sure if the father was still in the picture or not since Kennie was helping as well. There was also a part of him that wondered if Kennie had only said it was her roommates baby so as not to scare Wyatt off. But she couldn't have known he was coming and she sounded to relaxed to have made up a lie on the spot about it being her roommates. There was still something about Tyler though, something Wyatt just couldn't put his finger on.
"Thanks," Wyatt said again accepting the bit of praise Kennie gave him. He was glad to hear she was proud of him, her acceptance was important to him, especially since she was what he left behind. Wyatt nodded at the next comment, he had indeed known Kennie was going to school here, though he'd hadn't figured that out until about a week after he was on campus. It'd be a lie to say he hadn't hoped to run into her at the Cape somehow though. "It's nice, only been here a couple of months, but it feels like home, the ocean breeze, nice little town, I can study acting and music, it's really nice," Wyatt explained conveniently leaving out the people who also made him feel so comfortable at the Cape. It wasn't as exciting and fast paced as LA, but he liked that.
"How do you like it?" Wyatt asked returning the question hoping maybe Kennie could share some of the schools secrets with him. What or who to avoid, or seek out things like that. Anything really as long as he could hear her voice.

Tyler nosed about in his crib as if there weren't some sort of electrical force going on between two adults above him. He was just the little kid that was caught in the crossfire of college lives. "His dad is...from what I know he doesn't even know." Kennie said, the subject a sore one though she didn't want to be stand offish about it. That wasn't in her nature. Kennie and Twigg argued often enough about whether or not someone should tell him he had a one year old son, it had yet to happen. "But even still...I think he's lucky too." She said, her lips going up in a smile while her nose scrunched up slightly.
Months.. Kennie thought, realizing that he could've shown up at any moment...what had taken him so long? Shaking her head slightly her brown hair fell over one shoulder, leaving the other bare. Listening to him talk about the Cape was calming almost. Just being near him was like coming home to something....though he'd found her. "I've lived here my whole life." She said, her smile more genuine than it had been in awhile. "I love it...there's nothing I can't do here...if that makes sense." Her cheeks began to go red, it was a strange feeling...having someone make you actually blush.
"Met anyone interesting?" She asked him, reaching to her water bottle and taking a sip slowly. The door had been opened for him to ask any questions he had, though Kennie wasn't sure if he had any or not. Perhaps he had met someone and he was really only there because he decided to stop by while he was in the neighborhood, that thought was enough to make her stomach drop ten feet below her.
Looking around her for a moment Kennie's eyes returned to Wyatt's, holding them in a gaze that she'd never given anyone else. Kennie could read people immediatly, though no one could read her ever...Wyatt was different with her on both accounts. Leaning backwards she put her elbows on the wooden counter, her water bottle hanging slightly from one of her hands while Tyler began to coo to himself.

"Oh," Wyatt said looking to the ground feeling bad for bringing up what was clearly a sore subject. Still he couldn't really regret asking as the question just would have continued to eat at him if he didn't. It was comforting to know that the guy wasn't a jerk at least...well he could still be a jerk, but at least he hadn't abandoned his son...he just didn't know he had one. Wyatt couldn't really agree with that logic, but he didn't know the whole story and it wasn't worth fighting with Kennie over seeing as Tyler wasn't their child.
"It doesn't," Wyatt teased "But I know what you mean," he added grinning. There was something about the Cape that really did give you the feeling that anything was possible. It had always been a magical place for him and that was probably the biggest reasons he chose to go to school here. That and the chance to run into Kennie...and you know the school was pretty good for acting and music too.
"Not really...I guess a few, but I really haven't met too many people," Wyatt shrugged. He knew some people but most of them were generic and not all that interesting, though he had met a select few who were pretty interesting. Twigg, was certainly interesting as was their relationship, mostly physical, but there was a deeper component that seemed more clear in the moment after sex or in their rarer moments of conversation. Other than her though no one was worth mentioning and somehow Wyatt felt that telling his ex girlfriend about the girl he was hooking up with on a regular basis was probably not the best idea.
"So, what about you...are you seeing anyone?" Wyatt asked varying the question slightly. Kennie had grown up on the cape so she was bound to have met her fair share of interesting people here. What Wyatt cared most about was who she was dating now, if anyone as that answer would control where the rest of the conversation would go.

Since he knew what she met Kennie smiled, feeling one more familiar sensation in his presence that she hadn't felt since the last time they were face to face. It was like ... there was really nothing to compare it to and that scared her a great deal
"I bet you'll meet your fair share of ... interesting people if you're hear long enough." She laughed at the idea of Wyatt running into one of the billions of tourists that ran through, snapping a picture at him as if he weren't a human going to college but rather a specimen that had to be poked and prodded, someone that had to be understood as if he weren't quite there. It always struck Kennie as odd that the people that didn't live on the Cape acted that way.
It surprised Kennie that Wyatt wasn't seeing anyone, seeing as how he was as attractive as he was...not to mention his own personal charm. Tilting her head to the side once more she smirked before raising a brow. "No." She said simply in reply to his question. "I haven't dated anyone for awhile." She said, wanting to laugh at the idea. After all...she'd always been one to go out and meet people. Kennie was just too picky it seemed...or maybe she always thought this exact thing would happen. She didn't really know.
"So tell me..." She said, pushing off the counter and walking nearer to him, but keeping the distance. She wasn't willing to scare him off just yet. "Is there any specific reason you were 'in the neighborhood'?" Kennie asked, a smirk tugging once more at her pouted lips. It was like he hadn't left... but they were two different people at the same time.

"haha, good to know," Wyatt said joining in light laughter at Kennie's comment. Now that he technically 'lived' here it was a bit odd to see and really almost scoff at the 'tourists' when he had been one himself only a few years ago, and to some extent still was one. He'd never really felt that way though, the Cape was like his second home, and sure his family did some of the more touristy things, hitting u the popular fish place, mini-golf, the beach, but he'd been coming to the Cape so long it was hard to think of himself as just another tourist.
"Oh, me either actually," Wyatt responded glad but a bit surprised by this discovery. Kennie was certainly attractive, she was so cute and sexy at the same time, and there was just something about her that made it hard to believe she could be single, but since it was the answer he was hoping for he felt he was more prepared to hear it. He was actually a little more surprised at himself. He'd dated only two girls officially in LA, one was his love interest on the show, which was a good one, but it just ran it's course and ended well enough, but the other was with another actress who didn't take the break-up so well. Honestly it was too bad there couldn't have been camera's rolling, because it would have made for brilliant TV. Other than that though it was mostly one night stands, and week long flings...and of course whatever you wanted to call his relationship with Twigg.
"Well, I guess I really just wanted to see you..." Wyatt asked still finding himself unable to bring out the real reason why he had stopped in. He just wasn't ready to hear that the relationship was over and should stay that way...he wasn't even sure he was ready to hear that they should pick up where they left off. "I know we left things, sort of...well weird and I guess I just wanted to see if you hated me for leaving," Wyatt said offering a small smile. Turning something serious into a joke always seemed to make it easier to face. Be sides this way all he was asking was if she hated him, which, if this conversation was any indicator, she didn't.

Looking over to the small boy Kennie was fairly relieved that he'd settled himself into a nap. Reaching over him quietly she turned the radio on, something that generally kept him asleep for awhile. This Twigg and herself had discovered not long after he was born. There was something about any type of music that just calmed him in his sleep. The song was a familiar one that made Kennie smile all the wider. "Wow...this song is..."She couldn't even finish the sentence as she allowed herself to glance back at Wyatt. When I Look To The Sky by Train...Something that always could send her back to him above anything else.
Allowing herself to sway ever slightly to the music she felt herself become lighter that he wasn't dating anyone. Kennie wasn't sure they could just be what they'd been once before...but the way he was looking at her definitly signified that there was something happening inside of him. The words floated around the two of them long after he finished speaking, all the while Kennie attempted to find words to answer his loaded question.
"I never hated you, I knew the stakes." She said, her smile small but present. Looking at him made her eyes sparkle like no one else could understand. "But I never gave up on you either." Was Kennie's next comment, her eyes flitting across his, trying to figure out what he wasn't saying. Because it was very apparant he was skipping around something.
For no reason in particular Kennie began laughing. "Remember when you lost your trunks in the ocean ... about two weeks after we started dating?" She asked him, her lips curved in one of her most honest smiles. The way Kennie stood and spoke eminated confidence and honesty. Two things she strived for continuously. Stopping her laughter almost as quickly as she had started, though it remained in her expression she asked a question of her own. "Did you miss me?"

"I know," Wyatt agreed not needing to hear the end of the sentence to know what Kennie was trying to say. "Care to dance?" he asked smiling as he offered her his hand from across the counter. There really wasn't much dancing to be done to the soft melody, so it was really just a cheap way for Wyatt to get to hold Kennie in his arms so they can sway a little to the music. It just seemed like it would be a waste not to offer considering the song just so happened to be playing at this moment.
Wyatt nodded softly. He wasn't really sure what to say. Obviously he knew she didn't hate him, but the fact that she'd never given up on him was a little bit of a surprise. He'd always assumed each girl he dated gave up on him once he was out of sight, maybe cried for a little while and that was that, but Kennie didn't give up on him...in a way he never really gave up on her either, otherwise he wouldn't be here would he?
"Haha, how could I forget that," Wyatt laughed. "I wouldn't come in from the water..it was pretty embarrassing." Not to mention the fact that for some reason he'd thought being naked made him more prone to a shark attack. And it certainly didn't help that the beach was far from deserted that day. Wyatt cut his laughter to a smile as Kennie stopped and then the smile dropped away at the question to a far more serious look. "Yea...I missed you a lot more than I ever expected to," Wyatt said keeping his voice soft as if that made the words more true, gave them more power.

Nodding with more than her head Kennie found herself in the arms of the only man she'd ever really....loved would definitly be a proper word for the two of them. At least she thought so. "I'd loved to dance." She smirked at him, their bodies molding against the slow beat of the music. If anything, she was glad for the excuse to feel him so near her once more.
She hadn't lied. Kennie never had given up on Wyatt. There was no specific reason why, but something in her just wouldn't do it. His picture still resided in her small wallet, a few of their small photos were in frames in a drawer at her house. It wasn't as if he were her everyday existence...but he had a part of her that no one else could understand. The words of the song, the touch of Wyatt once more, all of it combined sent a shiver through Kennie's spine and into her fingertips, causing her to smile.
Letting her head fall back lightly she opened her mouth a laughed with her heart. It'd definitly been entertaining standing between the ocean and the beach watching him shake his head in adamant refusal. Eventually she'd asked someone for a towel and taken it out to him, but not after laughing at him. The way he was able to fit into her small pauses was so familiar, another stomach flip and Kennie wasn't sure if this were a dream or reality anymore.
His final sentence caught her off guard. Not only that but it was honest proof that she'd been different from any girl he'd ever dated. "I'm glad the feeling is mutual." Her toes were lifting her every so often, as she always did when she danced. This brought her lips inches from his every so often, the smell of him filling her very soul in a way that no one else understood. That seemed to happen a lot when she was ever near Wyatt, not much had changed.
"Since that is the case what's next?" Kennie found herself asking, her mouth getting away from her. It wasn't that she wanted to ask it entirely..but part of her feared that he'd never get to it. And now the ball was in his court, something she doubted he'd expected when he'd walked in that door and back into her life.
